Wow. These are gorgeous. I love the grain/texture. Did you shoot with a high ISO or add that in later? The black and white totally captures the mood of that show.
Mary — Thank you! And thank you for noticing. That was actually a very intentional part of my approach in this particular context.
Live photos after while all can become pretty redundant, so in this scenario I wanted to focus on the perspective of the sitting audience member – or the casual passerby – and tell the story of how they might have immediately found Doug’s writing magnetic and compelling as I did.
Shannon — A huge honor…
Kelsey — I actually shot at around ISO800 in there. There was quite a bit of light but it was pretty direct up front (and vicious and orange) so I needed to find the spaces where the shadows framed it best. Some of the grain was reinforced by post processing for sure. When I was processing, I wished I would have shot this with Ilford 1600 or something.
Fantastic work. I especially like the group formals. The arrangement of the people in the background is really nice. This is one area I need to work on, so it is good to see shots done well.
Wow, Doug Burr, really?! My entire family LOVES Doug… he’s a great guy, who plays some great tunes. I love the lighting in the room… and yes, the black and white… that is amazing…
Beautiful contrast, and nice layering! I love how you shot “through” so many things.
love the intimate feel.. beautiful processing… lovely

Lauren — Thank you my friend!
seeing these photos taken at all good seems to bring out the contrast to most of the other venues you post on here. if all good counts as a venue.
I believe these are some of my favorite live shots you’ve done.
Yup. What they all said. Beautiful.
This makes me want to learn origami.
Gorgeous set, Andrew.
I made it! YES!
The black and white looks great for these. So rich.
